Time Bicycles
Time Bicycles is a French manufacturer based in Montferrand with a history as significant as Look's in the development of clipless pedals. Founded in 1987, Time developed their own clipless pedal system — with a distinctive forward-and-back float pattern rather than rotational — that became popular with professional cyclists who preferred its biomechanical characteristics. Bernard Hinault, among others, endorsed early Time pedals. Today, Time still produces their XPRO and ATAC pedal ranges alongside a premium range of road and gravel frames. What Is Time Bicycles and What Did They Invent? The Time Alpe d'Huez 01 is their flagship road bike — a lightweight carbon climbing frame named after the most famous climb in cycling, built for riders who demand the very best in terms of weight and vertical efficiency. The ADHX is their adventure/gravel bike, built from the same high-modulus carbon as the Alpe d'Huez with geometry and tyre clearance tuned for mixed-surface riding. Why Choose Time for Road and Gravel? Time bring genuine French engineering heritage to road bikes and a pedal system that many physiotherapists and bike fitters specifically recommend for riders with knee issues — the free-float ATAC system allows the foot to move naturally rather than constraining it to a fixed rotation point. Their frames are race-proven and beautifully finished, representing an alternative to the mainstream Italian and American premium brands for riders who want something different.
