I’ve just had the privilege of undertaking the renovation of an old Tommy Donaldson Reynolds 531 racing bike.
Tommy Donaldson was a specialist racing bicycle builder. His premises were in 92 Union Street Lurgan. Tommy built bicycles for many well known names in the sport of competitive cycling. He died in the early 1990s
This one had been sitting waiting for some tlc and now it’s ready to hit the road again. The paint scheme was undertaken by Chris custom designs in Craigavon with some chroming and metallic blue paint.
The brief was a classic look with a modern twist . So we went with Campagnolo Veloce group set , Brooks saddle and bartape , Cinelli bar and stem , Dia Compe seatpin , Halo Retro wheels , Vitoria open tubular tyres and MKS pedals and toe clips .
Now that it’s up and running again it should be fit to roll the back roads in comfort once again.
It’s great to see another one of the classics rescued from the shed and saved from the rust and dust
